Gladys Elizabeth Barbieri is an award winning bilingual (English/Spanish) children’s book author and first grade teacher. Gladys’ favorite part about teaching is reading countless stories to her students in the hopes that they too get the reading bug, as well as teaching them the yoga poses she is trying to master. Gladys’ favorite part about writing is the hope that her stories inspire little kids and adults to be kind, thoughtful and compassionate.

Rubber Shoes…a lesson in gratitude/Los zapatos de goma…una lección de gratitud is a bilingual picture book (ages 4-8) about a little girl who tries to destroy the ugly shoes her mother bought for her on sale. After many failed attempts, she finally learns a valuable lesson in gratitude. This book is beautifully illustrated by Lina Safar.

Gladys Elizabeth Barbieri and Lina Safar are currently working on another bilingual children’s picture book, Pink Fire Trucks/Los camiones rosados de bomberos. Keep a lookout for this second book, it’s sure to get lots of positive praise and heartfelt smiles!

Gladys Elizabeth’s Causes:

Felton Elementary School

I’m happy and proud to say that the community of educators at Felton Elementary School is doing their part to provide early intervention to struggling students. As a result, the school’s test scores keep improving, the kids are learning and succeeding. As a teacher at this school, I am donating a portion of my book sales to Felton’s reading intervention program.

Reading Is Fundamental of Southern California

To promote literacy and motivate children to read by building at-home libraries for underserved children in Greater Los Angeles.

This wonderful organization provides free books to students in underserved communities. I see firsthand how excited my own students get when they get to choose a new book to take home. It’s priceless! However, RIF needs your support. Please donate funds to keep books coming to the hands of students who need them the most:
